I am a member in this forum. I am surprised to have seen this article about a new power in Slovakia: Robert Fico reorients justice upon his return to power. The return of Robert Fico to power in Slovakia has caused major upheavals in the country, particularly in the judiciary. Former Advocate General at the Court of Justice of the European Union in Luxembourg, Jan Mazak, President of the Slovak Judicial Council, is at the heart of this institutional storm. Fico, a controversial figure in Slovak politics, is known for his very conservative left-wing positions, pro-Russian attitude, anti-migrant firmness and connection to several corruption scandals. His return to power coincided with a rapid reaction against law enforcement, magistrates and the media who investigated him and his political circle during his brief period in opposition.
